Yep you heard it right March 18 is celebrated as World Sleep Day. The sleep day is very much needed in this fast track sleepless world. This is an annual event, intended to be a celebration of sleep and a call to action on important issues related to sleep, including medicine, education, social aspects and driving. It is organized by the World Sleep Day Committee of the World Association of Sleep Medicine (WASM) and aims to lessen the burden of sleep problems on society through better prevention and management of sleep disorders.

The World Sleep Day 2016 is celebrated with the slogan “Good Sleep is a Reachable Dream” because for most of them a good sleep is becoming a dream.

Causes of Sleeplessness:

The main causes of sleeplessness are 

  • Stress
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Medical conditions
  • Change in your environment or work schedule.
  • Poor sleep habits
  • Medications
  • Caffeine, nicotine and alcohol
  • Eating too much late in the evening

  • According to a study by scientists at Uppsala University in Sweden. The researchers suggested getting plenty of sleep might prevent weight gain.

  • You'll have better sex life
