About Institution

Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL), is a National Law University located in Patiala, Punjab, India. It was established in 2006 by the Punjab Government (Punjab Act No. 12 of 2006) as a university dedicated to the field of Legal Education.[1] The first vice-chancellor of the University was Gurjit Singh. The institution is currently being headed by Dr. Paramjit S. Jaswal. RGNUL started functioning from its Headquarters-Mohindra Kothi, The Mall, Patiala w.e.f. 26 May 2006. From session of 2013 RGNUL started functioning in its permanent 50 acre campus which is located at scenic Sidhuwal, 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) from Patiala. RGNUL is affiliated to UGC and approved by the Bar Council of India.

 

Vision

Our endeavour is to serve the society through reforms in legal services by way of preparing professionally competent lawyers, inquisitive researchers, able administrators, conscientious judicial officers, and above all, socially responsible citizens, who shall be whole- heartedly and continuously engaged in the process of nation building

: ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION The Admission shall be based exclusively on the merit in the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT). However, to qualify for admission: 1. The candidate must have passed 10+2 examination of the Punjab School Education Board or its equivalent with minimum 45% marks in the aggregate (40% marks for SC/ST) 2. The age of the candidate must not be more than 20 years in case of General and 22 years in case of the SC/ST and PWD Candidates as on 1 July 2015. 3. The candidates appearing in or awaiting results of the qualifying examination held or being held in March/April 2015 may also apply and appear for the Combined Law Admission Test (CLAT) provisionally, subject to the condition that they shall produce the proof of having passed the qualifying examination with the prescribed percentage of marks at the time of their interview/counseling. 4. The candidature of: (a) those who do not clear the qualifying examination with the requisite marks and/or fail to produce result on the date of interview/counseling, or (b) those who get compartments/re-appear in any subject in the qualifying examination, shall be cancelled and subsequent securing qualifying marks shall not be considered in any case. Candidate applying in the SC/ST/PWD/State Resident category is required to submit category certificate from the competent authority.
