Gilbert Stork is a U.S. organic chemist. He is the Eugene Higgins Professor of Chemistry Emeritus at Columbia University. The Stork enamine synthesis is named in his honor. He was born on December 31, 1921 in Brussels, Belgium. He went on to do his graduate work in organic chemistry at the University of Wisconsin, where he earned his PhD in 1945. He received the National Medal Of Science in 1982.
