John D. Baldeschwieler is an American chemist who has made significant contributions in Molecular Structure and Spectroscopy. Baldeschwieler's research interests are in molecular structure and spectroscopy, including scanning probe microscopy, and the application of these techniques to the study of biological systems. He was born on November 14, 1933 in Elizabeth, New Jersey. Baldeschwieler received his undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering from Cornell University in 1956 and his Ph.D. in 1959 in Physical Chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley. He received the National Medal Of Science in 2000.
