Michael Stuart Brown is an American geneticist and Nobel laureate. He was born on April 13, 1941, in Brooklyn, New York. Brown graduated in 1962 from the College of Arts and Sciences of the University of Pennsylvania, with chemistry as his major subject. He spent most of his time at the headquarters of the student newspaper, the Daily Pennsylvanian, where he served as features editor and briefly as editor-in-chief. In 1966 Brown received his M.D. degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. In 1988, Brown received National Medal of Science for his contributions to the world of Medicine.
