Sidney Drell is an
American theoretical physicist and arms control expert. He is a professor
emeritus at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center (SLAC) and a fellow at the
Hoover Institution. Drell is a noted contributor in the field of quantum
electrodynamics and particle physics. He received the National Medal Of Science
in 2011. He was born on September 13, 1926 in Atlantic City, New Jersey, United
States. Drell received his PhD from the University of Illinois in 1949. He
co-authored the textbooks "Relativistic Quantum Mechanics" and
"Relativistic Quantum Fields" with James Bjorken.
