Smt. Jawala Devi Memorial Trust was established in 2001 with a view to create a progressive, re- vitalized society proud and worthy of its ancient culture and ready to march with the rest of the world. The Trust wants the benefits of modern science should reach the common people. Lord Diljit Rana, Chairman of the Trust has a vision for the future to create a village society that, in its fusion of the native values and culture and modern science, will be a model for the whole country. These aims could be realized only by spreading educational facilities. The Trust planned to create adequate educational infrastructure and provide world class facilities. In the absence of world class basic educational facilities, the Trust decided to set up a college for imparting higher education. Cordia College, Sanghol affiliated to Punjabi University, Patiala is working for the last several years. Smt. Jawala Devi College of Education has been setup to provide professional education to those students who want to pursue a career in teaching. These colleges have all the amenities and facilities required for such a course. In order to offer courses which have better employment opportunities, the Trust has set up one institute for MBA course, one for the Hotel Management and Catering Technology and setting up another institute of Heritage. The Trust has ambitious plans for setting up institutes with international tie-ups so that the students have a better exposure and are able to get best opportunities available anywhere. The Trust will always create a knowledge society which achieves all round development in the near future.
Mission of the College is to provide to the rural youth educational opportunities that emphasize skills & knowledge that will allow the student to adjust through a lifetime of social and technological change. It was in the year 2001 that members of the Sanghol Panchayat and other eminent persons of the area met Lord Daljit Rana, an NRI settled in Northern Ireland, U.K. while he was on a visit to India. The deputation requested Lord Rana to establish a college at Sanghol for the benefit of students of the area. Lord Rana has a vision to provide world class educational infrastructure at this place so that new generation is able to march a head of times. The college in now a multi faculty co-educational institution.
