About Institution

To meet the ever-increasing demand for competent technocrats by the industrial sector at the global level, the Govt. Polytechnic College, Khunimajra (Mohali) was established by the Punjab Govt in the year 1996 as a co-educational institute. Initially, two diploma courses were started during the same year in the two important streams of Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering with an intake of 40 students in each trade. Later on, not only were two new courses of Electronics & Communication Engineering and Computer Engineering started in the college from July 2004, but the intake of the students was also enhanced from forty to sixty in each course. A new course, namely Medical Lab Technology has been proposed to be started from the session 2010. The college, with its campus spread over an area of 17 acres approximately, is located at a distance of about 2kms from Kharar bus stand on the Kharar-Banur road. Located in the vicinity of Mohali, the college has come to be recognized as a premier co-educational institution imparting technical education. Besides catering to the requirements of the tri-city of Mohali-Chandigarh-Panchkula, students from all over Punjab and neighbouring states strive to seek admission in this college.
