About Janakpuri ( latitude: 28.6216000, longitude: 77.0945800 )
Janakpuri is a major residential colony in West Delhi, India which is one of the most well planned and affluent areas of West Delhi popular for big sized luxury villas and residential plots. The area started to develop in the 1970s. In recent years it has gained good popularity with residents of West Delhi for it houses the commercial complex of District Centre along with various government offices and other businesses. Its one of the most peaceful and calm residential areas of Delhi and is also known as Colony of Parks.
Present geographical structure of Janakpuri constituency came into existence in 2008 as a part of the implementation of the recommendations of the Delimitation Commission of India constituted in 2002.
Janakpuri is part of West Delhi Lok Sabha constituency along with nine other Vidhan Sabha segments, namely, Madipur, Rajouri Garden, Hari Nagar, Tilak Nagar, Uttam Nagar, Vikaspuri, Dwarka, Matiala and Najafgarh.
The people of this area are mostly Punjabis with roots in Pakistan - this is highlighted from the fact that the local MLA Sh. Jagdish Mukhi is also from Pakistan.
