The Union Territory of Pondicherry has its significance due to late Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru who has envisaged a special status for Puducherry to preserve the window to the French culture in India. Puducherry comprises of four regions viz. Puducherry, Karaikal, Mahe and Yanam. Pondicherry and Karaikal are enclaves in Tamil Nadu State; Mahe forms an enclave in Kerala, and Yanam in Andhra Pradesh. The union territory with a population of about eight lakhs having several reputed industries which has been progressing all these years and is poised for a spectacular growth , which is due to the industrial friendly policies and tax benefit provided to this union territory . Pondicherry has deservedly magnetized many large industrial houses of national repute and several renowned industries look for well trained technicians to meet their human resource needs. The government runs almost all categories of professional institutions for the benefit of the society.
