the official site of Manikya Lal Verma Government College, Bhilwara. Located at the heart of the textile city, Bhilwara, this college have a prestigious history of proven results, most experienced and quality teaching staff.
Named after Late Shri Manikya Lal Verma, a renowned freedom fighter and leader of the Bijoliyan Kisan Andolan, this college is a prestigious institute of higher education in the southeastern region of Rajasthan. Established in 1951-52 as an Inter College, it started functioning as a Degree College in 1956 and was affiliated to the University of Rajasthan, Jaipur. Facilities for degree education in all the three streams namely; Science, Arts and Commerce were provided by 1959. First Postgraduate Course in this College was introduced in Physics in 1968 and since then it has launched Post graduation in 16 different subjects, Degree course in Law, Diploma in Labor Law, Diploma in Salesmanship and Marketing, Diploma in Cost Works and Accounts and M.Phil Courses in Physics and Chemistry. The affiliation of this College has been shifted in 1988 to MDS University, Ajmer.
Since establishment this college has secured its high position not only in academics but also in Games, Sports, Research and other extra curricular activities. Every year students of this College secure high merit positions in University Examinations in different disciplines. It had the honor of having International Referee in Basketball Mr. B.M. Diwaker in its faculty and Arjun Awardee Shri Surendra Kataria. Many players of this College have participated in National Level Tournaments and won medals. Some names are - Pyare Lal Khoiwal and Mohit Bhandari in Basketball, Hari Narayan Koli in Boxing, Shri Shailendra Gehlot and Rakesh Agrawal in Cricket. This College is actually known for his Basketball and Wrestling Teams.
This College has every reason to be proud of its infra-structure. On one hand it has a rich Library having about 1.25 lacs of latest editions of books and well established Postgraduate Departments with well equipped laboratories in Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Geography and Computers and well maintained Botanical Garden, Play Grounds, 400 meter track, Weight Lifting Room, Basket Ball, Table Tennis , Badminton and Tennis Courts on the other. There is a big campus spread over 21.3 acres having the main building with about 100 rooms a big library building with separate Stacking, Reading and Reference Sections, N.R.S.C. Hall, Cafeteria, Secrecy Section and a big Boys Hostel with a capacity of accommodating about 150 students. This College acquired recognition from UGC under Section 2(f) and 12 (b) since inception of the UGC Act, 1972 and since then it has earned a name in obtaining maximum grants from UGC under its five year plan schemes and their timely and proper utilization. It was accorded with a status of Autonomous College by UGC during 1988 to 1995.
