In a shot in the arm for government Inter college students, education minister Kadiam Srihari said that poor students would be educated free of charge.

Speaking at the Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education, Srihari said that there are around 1.15 lakh students in 402 government colleges across Telangana. No fee would be charged from these students, he said, explaining that it would mean a waiver of Rs 9.3 crore. Books, worth Rs 6.25 crore, would also be given free.

Meanwhile, in a bid to create a paperless environment and combat corruption, the board will launch online services for students, including applications for certificates of eligibility, equivalency and migration, duplicate marks memo, renewal of affiliation, among others.

Taking questions on the cash-for-vote case, Srihari, who is also the deputy chief minister, said, I am putting a straight question to chief minister Chandrababu Naidu. Is the recorded voice yours or not? He also said that there was a difference between "tapping" and "recording", but did not explain the difference.
