The new initiative Meri Lado Kare Padhai of Gurgaon hasdecided to provide free education to the girl students who are from Class IX toXII. The initiative will be funded by quite a few NGO and companies based inGurgaon, as part of their CSR activities. The girl students get free educationtill class VIII under the Right to Education (RTE) Act, mentioned in the Indianconstitution.
The initiative has been taken to lower the dropout rates ofgirls from various schools in the region after they complete their freeeducation upto class VIII. The district administration is hopeful that thisinitiative would bar the girls from opting out from schools and they wouldcontinue their studies in their respective schools. The corporate figures,associated with the initiative have also planned to rope in the panchayatsunder the initiative. The District Education Officer Manoj Kaushik said, Thisinitiative is an extension of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao prgramme. We havealready started work on it.
The money for the initiative would be raised through variousschemes and stakeholders in the state. The approx. budgetary allocation for theinitiative has been penned to Rs. 1.35 crores by the education department. Themoney would not only flow from the various functional NGOs and corporate housesin the region, but many volunteers and teachers from various schools have comeup to make it a successful one. The girl students would get immensely benefitedwith this initiative and can complete their goals of higher studies in theirdesired field of study.
