Mount Carmel College (MCC), an autonomous women’s institution affiliated to Bangalore University, will admit male students for its post-graduate programmes from the current academic year.
A proposal had been sent to Bangalore University in the month of March, seeking permission to grant the approval to offer post graduation courses to boys.
Following the request made, the university's academic council has approved the proposal of the 67-year-old college on Thursday.
Principal Sr Arpana said the college has state-of-the-art infrastructure, well-equipped laboratories and research facilities.
There was a huge demand for PG courses in electronics and nanotechnology from boys. And since MCC has all the necessary facilities for this, we thought of offering course to boys. As of now, only a certain percentage of seats will be allotted for boys as our new campus is not yet ready and classes will continue in the Vasanthnagar campus, she added.
However, BU vice-chancellor B Thimme Gowda said that once the government gives permission, they can start offering PG courses for boys too.Post Your Comments for this News
