On Thursday, Thane district collector as well as other government officials visited various zilla parishad schools in the district under their Shalesathi ek divas initiative. Under this initiative, the officials have come forward and adopted schools in the district with an aim to improve their educational standard.
Thane district collector Dr Mahendra Kalyankar visited a zilla parishad (ZP) school in a tribal area in Borivli on Thursday. 'Shalesathi ek divas' or one day for school initiative is the brainchild of Kalyankar wherein he urged officials of ZP as well as the district collectorate to look into the welfare of schools.
As such, various HODs (head of the departments) and ZP officials visited primary schools of ZP. For instance, the departmental head of Bhiwandi visited a school in Anjur while another official visited Murbad and spent some time there trying to the know the problems of teachers and students as well.
The aim of this initiative is not to conduct surprise checks but to participate and support the educational machinery," says an official from the district collectorate, Thane.
There are over 2,200 ZP schools in Thane district and 500 officials are a part of this initiative. The officials will be there in school right from prayers, national anthem, school routine time and will also teach them a few subjects. This initiative is applicable in all the ZP schools of Konkan division.
