RRB Conducts First Online Exam

The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB), for the first time is conducting online (computer based) examination. The examination is conducted for 3273 vacancies of Senior Section Engineers and Junior Engineers. The exams is being held from August 26, 2015 to September 4, 2015.


The application process for this examination was also conducted online and around 18 lakh candidates have applied for the vacant posts.


 As per reports, the examinations are being conducted in 242 cities across the country including far-off locations in North-East and Jammu and Kashmir.


According to a statement issued by the railways,the online format is expected to enhance objectivity, transparency and credibility of Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) examinations significantly.


This time it has been observed that the number of applicants have increased due to the new online format which is user friendly and fool-proof, taking care of all the checks and balances.  RRB is the employment gateway for group C and Group D posts in Indian railways. It functions under Ministry of Railways and is divided into 19 regional boards headed by a Central Control Board. In order to bring about greater efficiency in administration, speedy implementation of on-going projects, better customer care, reduction of workload on General Managers etc., Indian railways have decided to create seven new zones by territorial re-adjustment of existing zones.
