Indian 4x100m women's relay team on Monday set a new national record by clocking 43.42sec during the Kazakhstan National Athletics Championships.
Interestingly, the relay team comprising Dutee Chand, Srabani Nanda, HM Jyothi and Merlin Joseph, bettered their own national record, which they created in the IAAF World Challenge in Beijing in May. The 4x100m relay quartet's earlier best was 44.03sec.
Their superb run today, helped then win the silver medal at the Almaty meet. Joseph starting off the blocks, and was followed by Jyothi and Nanda respectively with Dutee finishing the finale leg.
Hosts Kazakhstan bagged the top honours with a timing of 42.92sec.
Indian 4x100m men's relay team, led by Jyothi Sankar, followed by Krishna Kumar Rane, Vidya Sagar and Amiya Kumar Mallick clinched the gold medal with a timing of 39.90s.
