The Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Science (KFAS) will donate $20 million to support education in the Kingdom and to help Jordan host Syrian refugees, KFAS General Manager Adnan Shihabeddin said on Monday.
Shihabeddin made the announcement at a meeting in Amman with Deputy Prime Minister for Services and Minister of Education Mohammad Thneibat, noting that the assistance is in line with Kuwait’s commitment to supporting Jordan as agreed in the London donor conference in February, reported.
Thneibat said some 145,000 Syrian students are enrolled in public schools, and 98 schools work on two shifts. In the next academic year, an additional 102 schools will work on two shifts to receive more Syrian students if donors honour their pledges.
