Penugonda is famous for the Sri Vasavi Kanyaka Parameswari temple, which is the most important temple for Arya Vysyas community. The other famous temple here is Sri Nagareshwara Swamy temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. A unique feature of this temple is that it contains 2 bulls (Nandi) in front of the lord (Normally there will be only one bull in front of the lord).
