People’s College Nanded was the maiden college in Marathwada region started on 26th June 1950 by Poojya Swami Ramanand Teerth, a Karmyogi Sanyasi. Swamiji’s influence on the gentry was both political And moral. The people of the Hyderabad region respected him as the people of India respected Gandhiji. The institution occupies a special status in the Marathwada region and identified as an institute based on a sound moral footing, democratic functioning, non-commercial approach, social commitment, excellent faculty, rich library, beautiful campus and qualitative teaching and research. The emblem of the college is “??????? ???? ????? ?? ??????? ?????”.

The establishment of the college in 1950 was a land mark in the history of Marathwada. It was an event that sowed the seeds of silent revolution in different walks of life in the region. The setting up of People’s College at Nanded was the step taken after deep thought by Poojya Swami Ramanand Teerth. He was a great visionary quite ahead of the time. He was a sanyasi with a difference having adopted the Karmayoga as defined by Bhagwad Gita. He has renounced the worldly possessions and attractions for good life so that he could fully devote for the emancipation of human being from hunger, ignorance, exploitation, slavery, hatred, fear and poverty leading to all types of dependence. To Swamiji Education was the panacea for all social and political evils.
