About Institution

The RLV College of Music and Fine Arts,Tripunithura was established in the year 1936 by the Cochin Royal family. His Highness KERALA VARMA MITUKAN THAMPURAN and H.H. LEKSHMIKUTTY NETHYARAMMA with a vision in promoting and propagating various forms of Art and Culture had established the premier institution. The institution was named after the King’s daughter Radha and Wife Lakshmi and the temple of Arts was named as RADHA LAKSHMI VILASAM ACADEMY. We the members of the RLV family pay our respects to the Founders of the College. In 1956, this institution was brought under the administrative control of the government of Kerala and was renamed as RLV Academy of Music and Fine Arts conducting Diploma and Post Diploma Courses in Vocal Music, Bharathanatyam, Kathakali, and Painting.

In the year 1998 the college was up-graded and affiliated to the Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam and the then existed Diploma and Post Diploma courses were re-structured as Degree and P.G. courses. At present the college offers B.A. and M.A. courses in Vocal Music, Veena,Violin,Mridangam, Bharathanatyam, Mohiniyattom, Kadhakali Vesham, Kadhakali Sangeetham, Chenda , Maddhalam and B.F.A. and M.F.A. Courses in Painting ,Applied Art and Sculpture. The present student strength of this college is 410.
