About Institution

The second helf of the twentieth century hailed an era of illumination in the college Buildingsoil of Orissa, which witnessed an unprecedented and indefatigable effort of noted individual for building educational institution in the far-off corner of rural region for the expulsion of ignorance and illiteracy from the remote villagers. Opening of schools and colleges in the far-flung dark areas of numerous districts was championed and cheered up by the Government if Orissa. During that period of renaissance in the country. S.R. College came into being in the year 1976 on the day of Mukara Sanskrit. It was built on the bank of River Subarnarekha at Domichak, Baliapal with great cheer and enthusiasm of the local inhabitants under the pioneering leadership of late Gadadhar Giri, the then M.L.A. of Jaleswar Constituency. Late Giri is no more living today physically but his immortal soul remains immanent in the sustenance of S.R. College , Baliapal which will remain as a memento in catering knowledge and wisdom to the forth-coming generation in the passage of time.

S.R.College, Baliapal today is the cynosure of all eyes imparting moral and philosophical values of human life along with the stress to have glimpses on striding steps on modern science generating an incentive for the students to learn more and more on computer Science, E-mail, Internet and other art of information & Technology.

Away from the din and bustle of town, S.R. Mahavidyalaya is ideally situated in a serene rural setting surrounded by villages. The gentle Subarnarekha flows by quiety on the north.
It started functioning in the newly constructed brick house of the northside with intermediate Humanities classes. The Government of Orissa accorded its recognition in the year 1977-78. In the year 1981-82 Degree class in Arts was Science were opened in the year 1979 and 1982 respectively. Commerce class in +2 level was opened in the year 1990-91 and +3 Degree in Commerce was opened from the session 2007-08. Subarnarekha Mahavidyalaya has now got to its Sanskrit and Education in Arts and Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology and Mathematics in Science. At present, this college is affiliated to F.M. University . The college is accredited by NAAC from 2006-07 in Grade (B)'.

The administrative Building was constructed in the year 1989 under the NTR scheme. At present the college have a good infrastural facilities with adequate class rooms. We furnished laboratories, good library, reading room, Gymnasium, BCR, GCR, separate computer Lab along with Hostel for Boys $ Girls. The college has opened its own and website (smbaliapal.org.in) and providing internet facilities for the staff and student.
The College is committed to succeed in its honest mission of imparting education to the future builders of the Nations. It expects the co-operation and help of all political & cultural prophets for its growing needs, onwards progress and development.
