About University

Located in the heart of India, named after the architect of modern India, Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru, a multi-campus University, Jawaharlal Nehru Krishi Vishwa Vidyalaya (JNKVV) was inaugurated by the then Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Smt. Indira Gandhi on October 2, 1964. At present, the University is serving 25 districts of the State through five College of Agriculture and one College of Agricultural Engineering; one Horticulture Vocational Training Institute; one Dryland Horticulture Research and Training Centre four Zonal Agricultural Research Stations; four Regional Agricultural Research Stations; four Agricultural Research Stations, and 20 Krishi Vigyan Kendras (Farm Science Centre). The University occupies an area of about 1,554 ha and represents a well knit and action oriented network of research and education centres in agriculture and allied fields in the State. In more than four decades of existence, a sound infrastructure and human resources have been developed to address emerging technological challenges of agriculture. JNKVV, one time biggest agricultural university in Asia, has produced competent human resource for managing the activities of agriculture and allied sectors and also played a pivotal role in the growth and development of agriculture in the State. Need based research and its dissemination to the peasantry have led to all round improvement in productivity of agriculture, that reflects with 18% growth in the sector of agriculture in the State during last year (2011-12).
