About University

The Indian Institute of Information Technology-Design and Manufacturing, was established in year 2005 by the Government of India under the Indian Societies Registration Act, for imparting skills to engineering students who can use IT in the field of Design and Manufacturing. Primary goal of the institute is to educate and train engineers who are dealing with design and manufacturing of engineering goods. The task of incubation has been entrusted on Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT Kanpur). The Director, Faculty and Staff members of IIT Kanpur worked together to achieve the goal.Commonly known as IIITDM Jabalpur is a part of leue of 4 Indian Institutes of Information Technology funded by Ministry of Human Resource Development (India) along with Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management, Gwalior, Indian Institute of Information Technology, Allahabad, and Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design and Manufacturing, Kanchipuram. It has been accorded the status of "Deemed University" in 2009 and "Institute of National Importance" in 2012 by the Government of India just after 7 years of its inception, thus providing it autonomy to choose and frame its own course and curriculum.

Vision

Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design and Manufacturing (IIITDM) Jabalpur, one of the premier technical Institutes of the country, established by Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India, shall be a Global Center of Excellence in engineering education and research by building itself as an Enterprise of Knowledge. The academic community including students, shaped with the unique creativity based on fundamental strong multidisciplinary academic skills, the capacity for a bold innovative thinking involving positive change and an integrity of character, grounded in an active and resolutely pioneering spirit, shall be indulged in meaningful innovations based on a knowledge-based engineering approach.

Mission

The Mission of the Institute is to create a multidisciplinary academic environment to prepare and train manpower of excellence for nurturing and promoting knowledge-based activities and innovations in design, fabrication and manufacturing of products by bringing together a collaborative and mutually stimulating mix of different fields of science, engineering and arts. In doing so the Institute shall identify current and future agendas for scholarship, share knowledge and discoveries with the world community and actively cultivate individuals with the desire and capability to contribute to society.
